Check out Adam's documentary, Unexplored Territory, on-line now! It chronicles his expedition to a nameless river deep in the Canadian wilderness, the first exploration of this waterway in recorded history.  Check out media coverage of it here.

In May 2008, Shoalts was named the winner of the
2008 Niagara Region Environmental Award in the Volunteer Category. He is to be presented with the award on June 12, 2008 in the Niagara Region's Council Chambers. The award recognizes the work Shoalts has done "increasing public understanding and awareness" through his Welland Tribune columns, and his "Reflections of a Naturalist" column for the Voice of Pelham, public speaking engagments in schools and elsewhere, as well as his work as the founder and chair of the Friends of Coyle Creek. Shoalts has won Brock University's 2007-08 Niagara Peninsula Society (Archaeological Institute of America) Prize in Classical Archaeology and History. The award is presented to the student obtaining the highest average mark in third year classics. Shoalts hopes to lead an archaeological expedition into the Canadian wilderness in 2009....

Shoalts was also named the 2007-08 winner of Brock University's
Department of History Third Year Book Prize. The prize is presented by the department "to an outstanding history student in third year." In 2006, Shoalts was also named Brock University's Department of History's winner of the Donald Creighton Award. Shoalts is currently working as an historian and writer for the Business Education Council of Niagara. His articles on fascinating stories and colourful characters in Niagara's storied history can be read at Yourniagara.ca.

This summer saw Shoalts explore an unnamed river in northern Ontario near James Bay---the first recorded exploration of this nameless river in history. A documentary, Unexplored Territory, is being made on his expedition.

Also this summer Shoalts returned to Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick for futher adventures.

Shoalts spent New Years in the La Cloche Mountains of Ontario's Kilarney Provincial Park, on a solo snowshoeing/hiking trip

2008 will see Shoalts undertaking several more outdoor adventures. He intends to scale Mount Marcy, the highest peak in the Adirondack Mountains and along with professional lacrosse player Travis Hill of the Minnesota Swarm undertake a risky canoe trip along the north shore of Lake Superior in the spring of 2008. Trips down the French, Moon, Grand, and Spanish rivers are also on the agenda.
