Adam Shoalts' expeditions are sponsored by the Royal Canadian Geographical Society:
Adam Shoalts is a Canadian explorer. On his expeditions, he explores remote areas of the Canadian wilderness that no known expeditions have previously explored, and in some cases are not even accurately mapped. These are highly remote areas where many of the landmarks remain nameless. He has made the first exploration in recorded history of three different rivers. The Royal Canadian Geographical Society (RCGS) sponsored Shoalts' expeditions in 2011 and 2013, while in 2012 he blogged about his expedition for Canadian Geographic. He was elected a Fellow of the RCGS in 2013 for "extraordinary contributions to geography," making him one of the youngest Fellows in the Society's illustrious history. Shoalts presented the Society's flag that he carried to His Excellency, David Johnston, Governor General of Canada and patron of the RCGS. In 2014, Shoalts carried the flag of the Explorer's Club on his Arctic Expedition.
When not on major expeditions, Shoalts frequently undertakes smaller adventures, writes on a variety of topics, and works towards his Ph.D, specializing in interactions between aboriginal people and explorers. He is currently focused on researching the history of North American exploration.
