About Adam Shoalts
A veteran of over two dozen wilderness adventures, Adam Shoalts was born in 1986 in the Niagara Peninsula. When he is not pursuing his love of wilderness adventure and the great outdoors, he tries to devote as much of his time to reading and writing as possible. In 2009, he is undertaking a major and unprecedented expedition in the Canadian wilderness, which will span thousands of kilometres and document rivers previously unexplored in recorded history.
Currently, Shoalts is focused on pursuing his other interest, history. He is an honours student at Brock University, in St. Catharines, Ontario. In 2006, Shoalts was awarded the univeristy's
Donald G. Creighton prize for history. In 2008, he was awarded the school's Niagara Peninsula Society (Archaeological Institute of America) Prize in Classical Archaeology and History and the Department of History's Third Year Book Prize. He plans to eventually obtain a Ph.D. in history.

Sense of Adventure, published in 2006, is Shoalts' first book. He writes a column for the Welland Tribune on wildlife and conservation issues and is currently working on his second book. He also writes a monthly column, "Reflections of a Naturalist" for the Voice of Pelham.  Reflecting his interest in history, Shoalts worked for the Business Education Council of Niagara as their historian and penned a series of articles about fascinating events and colourful characters in Niagara's history for yourniagara.ca.
Shoalts is a passionate environmentalist with a particular concern for preserving the Canadian wilderness, and is the founder and current chair of the
Friends of Coyle Creek. In 2008, he was named a winner of a Niagara Region's Environmental Award. He also sits on the board of Shorewalk. He is available as a guest speaker (see testimonials on the side) and is spending the fall and winter of 2008 showing his new documentary, Unexplored Territory
